Emir calls for unity among political class

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu-Gambari, has delivered a poignant message to the political class, urging them to put aside unhealthy rivalry and refrain from sowing seeds of disunity.

He emphasized the significance of collaboration for the betterment of Ilorin.

This counsel was provided during the installation of Alhaji Mohammed Sanni as the 10th Magaji of Bamidele, a historic event taking place at the ancestral home of Senator Saliu Mustapha, who represents the Kwara Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

Emir Zulu-Gambari underscored the need for individuals from Ilorin in positions of authority to unite and work hand in hand to usher in development for the Emirate.

He stated, “Sons and daughters of Ilorin that Allah has blessed in high places should make it a point of duty to collaborate with one another; they should put hands together to attract viable development to the community.”

The Emir, who also chairs the Kwara State Council of Chiefs, stressed that the development of Ilorin Emirate should be a shared priority for all its indigenes, regardless of their political affiliations.

Senator Saliu Mustapha, known as the Turaki of Ilorin, not only spoke at the event but also generously donated N2 million to support the installation of the new Magaji.

Following this, he joined the Emir of Ilorin and fellow Muslim worshippers for the Juma’ah prayer at Ilorin Central Mosque.

In a further display of community spirit, Senator Mustapha paid a condolence visit to the Agbaji Quarters of Ilorin, offering his sympathies over the loss of their Chief Imam, Sheikh Aminullahi Tantolohun.

The Emir of Ilorin’s admiration for Senator Saliu Mustapha’s achievements in the National Assembly mirrored the sentiments shared during the traditional turbaning of Alhaji Muhammad Sani as the 10th Mogaji Bamidele of Ilorin.

This event, held in the ancient Ile Bamidele compound, home to the historic Ilorin stone, celebrated Senator Mustapha’s active role in the 10th National Assembly, where he currently chairs the Senate Committee on Agriculture and serves on various strategic committees.

The Emir expressed his confidence in Senator Mustapha’s capacity and competence, envisioning a future where he attracts more federal government presence to the four local government areas and delivers the dividends of democracy to his constituents.
