Renowned Community Development Practitioner, Mallam Lawal Olohungbebe, has admonished the teeming Kwara youths to shun thuggery and hooliganism because ” politics do not worth their lives ” TheInformant247 has gathered.
The celebrated Convener of the successful Gubernatorial Candidates’ Forum Debate late last year, while airing his opinion on the recent spate of political violence in the Ilorin Metropolis, condemned in full terms the unrest and disorderliness, saying it is ” a deviation from the ethos and practice of the Ilorins ”.
The Ilorin – born Lecturer at the Kwara State University, Malete admonished the Kwara youths not to be used as political thugs in the forthcoming general elections, a habit he described as ” unfortunate and terribly worrisome ”.
While going further, he said ” Our people should learn to accept that we are different people who are bound to have different opinions, a fact which is necessitated by perception, views and ideologies. Having different political opinions should not escalate to becoming uncontrollably violent. Our youth should learn to inculcate the spirit of brotherhood and comradeship. Be and let others be. ”
Explaining further, Mallam Lawal admonished that every necessary steps must be taken to avert such occurrence. According to him, the effects of political clashes are hugely bad for the community, socially, economically and politically.
The respected Community Developer however seized the opportunity to appeal to all and sundry to see peace and harmony unnegotiable.
” All I have to say is to plead to all perpetrators, their facilitators and sympathisers, to sheathe their swords and embrace peace. Political ambitions of politicians do not worth anybody’s live. This is our community, politics and politicians will come and go while the community remains”.
Mallam Olohungbebe admonished Kwarans to exercise their franchise without rancour and violence in the forthcoming general elections in Kwara State.
