Kwara South 2019: Offa Groups Throw Weight Behind Sen. Rafiu

Sen. Rafiu Ibrahim’s re-election bid has received more boost as different associations in Offa local government area of Kwara State declared their support for him ahead of the February 16 National Assembly elections.

The associations made the declaration at separate interactive meetings with the lawmaker and his campaign team on Saturday in Offa.

Rafiu who currently represents Kwara South senatorial district is seeking a return to the Senate on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. He today toured different areas in Offa where he was warmly received by the people.

Some of the associations that expressed their support for Senator Rafiu are National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Kwara Alumnium Fabrication Association, and Association of Private School Teachers (APISTO).

Others are Planks Sellers Association of Nigeria, Offa branch, Offa Football Coaches Association and Football Club Proprietors Association.

The associations said they are supporting the lawmaker as a result of his quality and people-focused representation in the last three and half years. They, therefore, pledged to deliver bloc votes for the Senator in the forthcoming election.

The leader of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Hassan Oyeleke, who was on the campaign trail of the senator, said that Offa local government has been the major beneficiary of the lawmaker’s quality representation.

Oyeleke, who hails from Offa, disclosed that Senator Rafiu had owing to his love for Offa facilitated various developmental projects to the local government, which include construction of Offa/Ojoku road, renovation and equipping of Offa township library, renovation of Owode market, provision of boreholes and transformers at different locations in Offa.

He added Offa youths and students had also largely benefited from employment opportunities, empowerment programmes, scholarship, and educational support provided by the senator.

The House Leader, therefore, asked the people of Offa to repay Senator Rafiu’s kind gestures to the town by voting en masse for him in Saturday’s election.

In his remark, Senator Rafiu appreciated the people of Offa for their support and prayers over the years while promising that he would never dissapoint them and the entire good people of Kwara South.

Speaking on the presidential election, the legislator asked the people of Kwara State to vote en masse for the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, stressing that the present APC-led administration of President Muhammadu Buhari must be voted out having failed Nigerians.

He also rallied support for the Kwara PDP governorship candidate, Hon. Razak Atunwa and other candidates of the party.
