A non-government organization, the Igbomina Mobile Clinic today held an health sensitization awareness, medical examination and free medication on hepatitis, diabetes and hypertension.
The health program – which precedes the 2019 general meeting of the apex socio-cultural organization, omo ibile Igbomina at the Igbomina house in Ganmo, Kwara State – is an initiative of the Igbomina Community North America.
Speaking during the sensitization talk, the Director of Kwara State Primary Healthcare Agency, Dr. Michael Oguntoye emphasised on the need for early diagnosis and vaccination against the hepatitis diseases which according to him can be prevented at the early stages.
Oguntoye counselled that every parent need to vaccinate their wards against the disease. He furthermore commended the group for their community service.
Also speaking during the programme, one of the volunteers, Dr. Durotoye Idayat, a consultant pathologist and senior lecturer, faculty of clinical science at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital said the programme is a community service to prevent and vaccinate against diseases and other health challenges. She noted that the programme is sponsored by Igbomina individuals in North America and consequently urged “well-to-do” individuals in Igbomina land to sustain such initiative.
While speaking with our correspondent, the programme’s coordinator, Elder Olaitan Oyin Zubair disclosed that the turnout was impressive.
“Today’s outing is fantastic and we appreciate the turnout. We thank the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency for coming. It is a recognition and we appreciate it. We also want to appreciate in particular our sponsor, the Igbomina Community North America led by Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi and of course our volunteers. We haven’t given them any Kobo for three years now.” -Oyin said.
He conclusively appreciate the Omo ibile Igbomina and the traditional rulers.
One of the beneficiaries who gave his name only as Akanji commended the initiators of the health scheme. “I appreciate the founders, volunteers and coordinators of this program, they are doing wonderfully well. May the good Lord continue to bless and be with them.”
