Igbomina Day 2019: Lai Mohammed, Senator Ajadi, Hon Ajuloopin, Kamwire, Others Bag Awards

– as Group solicits immortalization of General Bamgboye

The Association of Omo Ibile Igbomina on Saturday, 9th November, 2019 marked the celebration Igbomina Day in Isanlu Isin.

In his opening speech, the National President of the association, Engr. Adebayo Niyi Timothy highlighted the major landmarks achieved by the association to include – award of scholarship to its indigenes; organising of annual summer lessons for secondary school students; delivery of health care services; payment of bursary to its indigenes; organising of football matches among Igbomina communities and floating of first non-commercial Igbomina community radio station (90.9FM) situated at Pamo Village among other accomplishments.

Engr. Adebayo further called on kwara State Government to bridge the gaps of infrastructural facilities in the zone, urging Governor AbduRahman to immortalize the Late David Lasisi Bamigboye for the selfless services he rendered to Kwara State during his time as Military Governor and his achievements which include: establishment of Kwara State Polytechnic and Kwara State Ministry of Education.

The president implore all indigenes of Igbomina to contribute to the development of the Igbomina Community Radio by way of providing financial succour and patronage of the station.

He disclosed that the next Igbomina Day will be staged in Ila-orangun, Osun state.

The chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Lai Mohammed expressed his gratitude to the Igbomina community for conferring such an honourable status on him, adding that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has not left the Igbomina community out of his development maps as the Ilorin-Kaba road is only paused as a result of rain and contractors will be mobilised as soon as rain stops.

The minister, upon receipt of award for his giant strides in politics, thanked the association for finding him worthy of the prestigious accolade.

Others who were presented with awards include: Hon. Abdulraheem Ajuloopin; Kenneth Sola Adeyemi; Senator Sulaimon Ajadi; Kamoru Yusuf Ibitoye (Kamwire); Professor Suleiman Age (VC, University of Ilorin); Former Minister Cornelius O. Adebayo.

The colourful annual event was graced by creme de la creme such as Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji AbdulRauf Olayiwola Mohammed; Kwara State Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi; Hon. AbdulRahim Ajuloopin, Royal fathers and other dignataries of Igbomina origin.
