In continuation of the claims going viral on the social media alleging the ex- Kwara First Lady, Mrs. Toyin Saraki of culpability in the sales/purchase of the controversial Kwara Amusement Park, emerging accounts have revealed the wife of the Former Senate President, Sen. Bukola Saraki as one of the defendants of a suit filed over the sales of the park.
The suit which has since been filed in 2013 with Suit no KWS/29/2013 was called by three claimants identified as Dr. Saad Omoiya, Dr. Saliu Ajibola Ajia and Alhaji Duro Garba through an Ilorin- based Counsel, Lawyer Jawondo at the Kwara state High Court, Ilorin against the officials of the former administration including the Former Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, has Mrs. Toyin Saraki as the 7th defendant on the list.
The document contained the notice of “discontinuance of action against the defendants” pursuant to an order by the High Court, Ilorin which was signed and dated 15th May, 2019.
However, when contacted, the two out of the three claimants, corroborated that Mrs. Saraki was suspected of using a foreign firm to front for the purchase of the public property.
According to Dr. Ajibola Ajia, they were concerned that the State Amusement Park was getting sold by the former administration using clandestine methods hence their seeking for legal action.
“We were concerned about the sudden death of the park. We couldn’t stomach the fact that the state government was a party in the sale of the public property to a god woman using clandestine method. The three of us ( as listed above) resolved to take it up legally. Our contention was that the land should be returned to the original owner if they (government) were going to use it against the purpose for which the land was claimed” he narrated.
In the same vein, Alhaji Duro Garba asserted that it was during investigations that it was revealed that Mrs. Saraki was reportedly the woman using foreign organization to purchase the park.
“There’s no doubt that she was among the defendants. The list (in the attached picture) had her name written boldly. It was reported that her “philanthropic activities” towards the park were to prepare ground for acquisition of the land” he espoused.
However, the two living claimants denied knowledge of discontinuation of the case under any guise as contained in the document going viral on the social media. They said they have not been informed by their lawyer of anything as such.
They remarked that the last they heard of the case was an adjournment and are still interested upon notification of commencement of the suit.
All efforts to contact the Prosecuting Counsel, Lawyer Jawondo proved abortive as at the time we reported.
