Integrated Modern Toilets: Ministry of Environment, Kwara Youth Center, and Other Stakeholders Inspects Facilities.

The Kwara state ministry of environment which was led by the Permanent Secretary, Kwara Youth Center which was led by its convener, Kayode Oyin Zubair, and other stakeholders on Thursday, the 6th day of November, inspected the modern integrated toilets which is being constructed by the Abdulrazaq led administration in the metropolis.

It was fulfillment on the faces of all and sundry, especially the Permanent Secretary of the ministry of environment as he was pleased with not only the pace of work, but also the quality of work being done at the three (3) locations of Queen Elizabeth School, Offa garage, and Isale Aluko at Alanamu, he heaped encomiums on all and sundry who made the project a reality, especially professionals of the Kwara Youth Center who dedicated every skill in their armory to see to the success of the project.

In his words: “The decisions and actions you’re seeing today culminated from the global decision that by the year 2025, open defecation should be eradicated all defecation. Today, it’s sad that Nigeria has taken over from India as the number one country where there is prevalence of open defecation in the world. We feel it’s too bad, that is why the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq deemed it fit to key into a this project, in a bid to eliminate polio and end open defecation.

He also added that the Ilorin metropolis can take up to 40 and even more of such public toilets, and called on private investors to also key into one of the laudable projects of this present government.

In his submission, the chairman of Isanlu-kabba, Offa motor park, Audu Solihu Owolabi expressed his satisfaction with the project, urging the Governor to spread it across the various parks in the state.

While fielding questions from journalists, Mr. Kayode Oyin-Zubair, KOZ as fondly called by his supporters said it is the initiative of the current administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and it’s designed to outrightly eradicate open defecation in Kwara State as United Nations has set a deadline for ending of open defecation across the globe, thereby expressing optimism that more of the project will soon spring up in every part of the State.

He further disclosed that the public toilet is targeted at improving the health of the Kwaran populace and increasing their life expectancy.

Mr. Kayode in his final submission, however charged users of the project upon its completion to improve their maintenance culture and not treat it as public facility, as it is put in place with tax payer’s money.
