Some group of persons in the early hours of today, Thursday 22 February, 2018 stormed Kara Kulende, Sango Area, Ilorin with diggers and hammers as they dilapidated some fences in the bid to enforce the Judgment delivered by the Kwara State High Court in favour of the plaintiff in the case between Alhaji Suleiman Jaiyeola and Ilorin South Local Government and 7 others in respect of a land located at the Area.
The matter between Alhaji Suleiman Jaiyeola and Ilorin South Local Government and 7 others in respect of a land located at Sango Area had begun long time ago and the Kwara State High Court recently gave a verdict in favour of Alhaji Suleiman Jaiyeola as the true owner of the land in question on 31st day of May, 2016. The Judgement which was delivered against the Ilorin South Local Government Council (defendant) emerged after the Council had already sold the land to innocent buyers who had since then erected completed and uncompleted buildings on the said land.
Some hefty men after pasting notices titled ‘Warrant of Possession’ tagged KWS/33/2011 on about 10 buildings in the area went ahead to dilapidate fences of the affected buildings with diggers and hammers as a sign of warning to the house owners and notifying them of thier defective titles. The police intervened promptly to ensure the preservation of peace and orderliness in the area as there were signs of uproar by residents. As of the time of filling this report, the fates of those who innocently purchased the land from the Local Government Council remain unknown.
