Violence, protest rocks Kwara APC ward congress, as Police caution protesters


There have been different reports of violence as the All Progressive Congress holds ward congress in Kwara today.

Some members of the APC were reported to have been injured during the ongoing Congress in Budo Egba ward of Asa local government of Kwara state which led to the total disruption of the Congress process.

Speaking with one of the protesters, who pleaded not the be named, he disclosed, ” most of our members are denied membership cards. Some of us who went for the nomination forms were not given, how do you expect us to keep quiet as observe them reap us of our rights. It’s very pathetic. Kwara APC is not a one man party, it belongs to all of us.”

Also in Share wards 1 and 2, the ward congress which was held at the CAC primary school turned violent when a faction of the party insisted on relying on a doctored list as the outcome of the congress.

However the Kwara state police command, in a statement signed by the PPRO, kwara state Command, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi, has warned protesters and vowed to prosecute anyone found wanting.

“The Commissioner of Police Kwara state Command, Cp Aminu Pai Saleh fdc, psc+, wishes to warn all would-be law breakers in Kwara of the Command’s readiness to arrest and prosecute any law breaker found within and around the vicinity of the on going All Progressive Congress (APC) ward elections.”

“The Command will not fold its arms while some miscreants in the name of political thugs takes the laws into their hands, any person or group of persons with no reason to be at the various venues of the elections should stay away from such venues or risk arrest and prosecution, please”
