Few days ago, someone was sending a “keep-off-Akeukanwo’s-zone” message to a 300 level student of the University of Ilorin. In his words, he said, “Akeukanwo is known to be anti-SU, anti-SAU, and so on”. His intent was known to me in all sincerity. His comment was informed by the ways and manners I reacted to immediate developments, particularly those concerning students, during the days of the immediate past VC – Prof. A. Ambali.
To lots of people, I am nothing but a critic -simply because I never listened to those who say “who is he to tell us this is how things are being done?” Well, it’s very simple – you all know who I am. I say this all the time and I will re-emphasise it, I won’t parade anyone up and down. Everyone’s handiwork will parade them.
Most times I rarely express myself when the University blows cold on all and sundry, reason being that I personally don’t like praising any institution for performing its constituted duties.
In recent times, University of Ilorin has been the most subscribed varsity and we all know why it’s so. In another development, it’s no longer a news that the University has recently turned out scores of fresh graduates; just like every other varsities in the country. But are they all certified?
Well, to everyone who doesn’t know, University of Ilorin produced a fantastic 9 thousand plus graduates in its last convocation ceremonies. The convocation ceremonies were officially and beautifully crowned on track 20 & 21 of October and after a couple of hours, say 48, graduands were handed their individual certificates. This is a commendable act, as against the norm in our dear country, with regards to the lateness that riddles certification and other bureaucratic processes. Hence, you will agree with me that the Better By Far (BBF) varsity is a citadel of Certified graduates.
Without being chauvinistic, University of Ilorin is a citadel of Certified graduates with a display of uncommon common sense in issuing out her students their certificate.
I am a BBF Graduate, Alumnus, and Ambassador. And to make my alma mata a greater place, I am to proclaim and report the handiwork of the university whether good or bad at my own discretion and not create them.
Gracias!
