The executive Governor of Kwara, Abdurrahman Abdurrazaq through a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye has allayed people’s fear amid abduction of Four Turkish expatriates said to be working with Turkish construction company, Istanbul Concrete Limited by unknown hoodlums at a drinking spot in Gbale village, in Edu local government area of Kwara State.
Through the statement, the governor to urged residents of the village never to be dissuade by the unfortunate developments, charging them to go about their usual business activities.
The statement read:
“The Governor is working closely with the security agencies to ensure prompt rescue of the expatriates. The Governor urges the people to go about their normal and lawful businesses and not to entertain any fear, as doing so may embolden the criminals behind the development.”
Weighing the resultant effects of the spate of kidnapping in Kwara State, an All progressives Congress’ Chieftain and Kwara South Senatorial aspirant Engr. Nurudeen Balogun raised concern over the issue.
“Abductions in Kwara is bad for our image and bad for business. It will cripple our fragile economy because potential investors will stay away.
The comparative advantage we have over many states will be lost. We are in a race or competition with other states for investment. We need to make sure Kwara and Kwarans come out ahead in this competition.”
