Wife of the former Senate President and ex-Kwara First Lady, Mrs. Toyin Saraki has denied the allegations levelled against her person on the social media on the sales of the controversial Kwara State Amusement Park, Ilorin.
According to a correspondence issued by Austen&Peters &Co Barristers and Solicitors which described Mrs. Saraki as a client, the chamber sternly warned people to desist from spreading malicious stories about their client as she has never bid for the park at any point in time.
The chamber took dislike of a tweet by one of the All Progressives Congress (APC) twitter handles called @mediaAPC which was made at 12:45am on 15 August, 2019 before being reproduced by another popular APC Information Manager, Miss Titilope Anifowoshe with her twitter handle @d_legal_eagle who is also an Assistant to a Ministerial- designate, Sen. Gbemisola Saraki at 10:57am of the same day.
The tweet which reportedly reads “Kwara State Govt has taken back the Amusement Park from former 1st Lady, Toyin Saraki, wife of former SP Bukola Saraki who took over the property as her personal possession after paying #62M for a land that is worth over #1.2billion using fake company to take over the land” was described as untrue and fictitious by Mrs. Saraki’s lawyers.
According to the statement, she found the ” entirety of the publication malicious, mendacious, libelous and criminally defamatory. She believes that the spreading of malicious falsehood in the said publication was done deliberately in a bid to bring her to disrepute before right- thinking members of the public, especially because there’s no iota of truth in the publication”.
Explaining further, they said their client (Mrs. Saraki) had never at anytime owned or sought for any part of the Metropark formerly called the Amusement Park.
They have equally denied that Mrs. Saraki never paid #62 Million naira or any sum whatsoever for the acquisition of the land while also faulting the assertions that she used a company to bid for it. They wondered where people got the impressions of the land been taken back from Mrs. Saraki by the Kwara State government when it never belonged to her.
Meanwhile, they noted that the ex-First Lady donated a Children’s playground and ancillary landscaping to the Amusement Park as a philanthropic gesture in 2004 and denied any association with the park since the end of her tenure in 2011.
The Austin&Peters and Co Chambers demanded on behalf of Mrs. Saraki immediate retraction of the allegations, outright apology message with a promise never to peddle falsehood against her person.
However, in the two-page letter to the Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Hon. Bashir Bolarinwa, Kwara State Government, and Miss Titilope Anifowoshe, the chamber said they gave the trio grace of just 24hours to meet their demands which failure to do so will lead to seeking legal redress.
