The Nigerian U-23 team, tagged Olympic Eagles has failed to qualify for the AFCON U-23 and lost the oppurtuinity to fight for a ticket for Paris 2024 Olympics respectively
The Coach Salisu Yusuf led side lost the return leg of the last qualifiers to Guinea 2-0 on Tuesday in Rabat, Morroco- thus confirming their exit from the race of the CAF U-23 tournament holding later in May in Morocco.
The tournament in Morocco will serve as the platform where teams to represent Africa at the 2024 Olympics will emerge.
Nigeria’s football team, who were also not at the last Olympics had earlier played a draw against the Guinea in the first leg of the match played last wednesday.
It was a winner take it all match, but the Eagles failed to turn things to their favour.
It’s however a dissapointing campaign for both Salisu and his boys who have come under criticism for their performance.
