Gallant Kwara Football Academy team earlier on Wednesday lost 5-4 on penalties to Enugu team in the final of this year’s National Schools Footbal Championship.
The competition which also doubles as CAF African Schools Football Championship qualifiers was played at the Area 3 playing ground in Abuja.
The Nine-man KFA boys stood firm against their counterpart from Enugu and came from a goal down to drag the game into penalties after playing out a 1-1 draw in the regulation.
The Sky-Blue dragon team were impressive throughout the competition where they had to play all their games with Nine players that made the final squad after the screening exercise requirements had axed other players from participating in the tournament.
Earlier, the Kwara team, riding high on their quarter-final famous 1-0 win over Abuja-based FOSLA Academy had dispatched team Ogun in the Semifinal after beating the Gateway State boys 4-3 on penalties.
The Kwara Boys, with the same numerical disadvantage had also earlier defeated Ebonyi 3-0 in their opening match before another 1-0 victory over a solid Taraba side in the second game.
While their performance has been widely applauded, the team, despite emerging the runner-up would now have some their players join the team Enugu for the CAF African Schools Championship in Lomé Togo from November 23rd this year.
