Reports have it that Spain’s state prosecutors are prepared to request a nine-year prison jail term for Dani Alves as he set to face trial for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in a night club in December of 2022.
Court documents show that the prosecutor will also demand €150,000 in compensation for the alleged victim.
Although a date for the trial has not been set,
Alves, 40, was detained in January after being accused of raping a young woman in the bathroom of a nightclub in Barcelona on Dec. 30, 2022.
Earlier, Barcelona high court recently confirmed Alves’ prosecution, concluding that the statement from the alleged victim and witnesses, as well as expert report are sufficient evidence to put him on trial for the crime of sexual assault.
Alves had earlier in August been indicted by an investigative judge in even though he has been held in custody without bail in a Barcelona prison.
When the allegations came out, the Brazilian defender denied in an interview that he knew the woman involved. He would later said that sex with the accuser was consensual.
