Commissioner of Police Preaches Peace Ahead of Easter Celebration
The Easter Festival is a celebration commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and Christian faithful in the State will be celebrating the season with friends and family members as the celebration is expected to happen in a peaceful and secured environment.
In light of this, the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Kayode Egbetokun on behalf of officers and men of the Command wishes Christian faithfuls in the State a happy and joyous celebration.
Since Jesus, the Master of Peace, is the reason for the season, Christians in particular, and the people in general are admonished to celebrate in a peaceful manner, devoid of any breakdown of law and order.
Commuters and motorists are advised to board vehicles at recognised motor parks, drive safely and avoid driving under the influence of alcohol or any intoxicating substance. Commuters are further advised to inform family members and friends of their movements at intervals in the course of their journeys.
To beef up security, the Kwara State Command has deployed adequate security personnel and materials, comprising seasoned security officers drafted from the intelligence unit, police mobile force, Counter terrorism unit, Explosives Ordinance Disposal unit (EOD) and men from Mounted troup, for both security and crowd control duties.
Members of the public are assured of their safety before, during and after the celebrations.
The Command affirms its readiness at all times to perform its statutory duties in line with the global best policing template and respect of the fundamental rights of the citizens.
CP Kayode Egbetokun remarked that making the state unbearable for criminals at all times is a task that must be done by the Command.
