An Abuja based , Ilorin born Legal Practitioner who was an All Progressive Congress House of Assembly aspirant, and the Cordinator of Kwara Residents in Abuja who recently endorses Alhaji Abdulrahaman Abdulrasaq as Gubernatorial candidate in Kwara State, Barr. Senior Sulyman speaks with SALIHU, Ayatullahi on the recent deloyment of a new Commissioner for Police to Kwara among other salient issues.
Q: Recently, the Police Service Commission deployed a former Tinubu’s CSO to Kwara as CP, this however was welcomed with great dissatisfaction from the PDP, what can you say on this?
A: It is a welcome development, Peoples Democratic Party youths, and not Kwara youths, are the ones protesting the the recent deployment of the new Commissioner of Police to Kwara State, because an average Kwara youth is industrious, hard working and is educated enough to know that the Police Service Commission has the exclusive right to transfer police officers whenever it feels necessary. So no amount of protest and press briefings can rob Police Service Commission of such powers.
Q: But don’t you think it has political undertone as alledged by the PDP?
A: A security issue like transfer of police officers should not be given political colouration.
If they have any grudges against the new Commissioner for Police, it should be addressed to Police Service Comission instead of littering the street, which has no effect.
Q: Barely few days to election, what can you say on the political atmosphere in Kwara State?
A: For those that are familiar with political trends in Kwara State, the chorus of the All Progressive Congress slogan ” O to ge” in the nooks and crannies of the State, which led Kwarans in diaspora like Lagos and Abuja chorusing the same thing. It’s a signal that a change of leadership is imminent in Kwara
It’s similar to the atmosphere in 2003 , when the streets of Kwara was singing the same song that led to the defeat of a sitting Governor, I’m seeing a replica of it, the end of another political era is around the corner; it is save to say in Kwara, it has been won and lost already.
Q: There have been attacks and counter-attacks from…
A: …Yes, the secret plot to portray the gubernatorial candidate of All Progressive Congress of parading a doctored certificate to weaken the mind of Kwarans yearning for change at the state level as a result of misrule of sixteen years is a desperation taken too far, and a pointer to the crumbling of the dynasty. Though we are aware of cars, gifts and money being thrown around town to buy the conscience of Kwarans. For those that had been given, it should be seen as parting gift, and remember to vote the political party that made them to be generous at this critical period. It is a certainty in life that everything that definitely has a begining must surely have an end; so we are at the end of bad governance in Kwara State, so fresh ideas can run the State.
