…Deputy Commissioner of Police leads investigation team
…Kwara Speaker keeps mum, fails to launch “probe”
The Kwara State command of the Nigerian Police Force has commenced investigation into the allegations against two Kwara lawmakers, Hon Ganiyu Abolarin and Hon Owolabi Razaq representing Isapa/Ekiti and Share/Oke constituency respectively.
This was coming after a petition was submitted to the police command by a non-governmental organisation, Leadership Appraisal Forum, LAF.
The NGO called on the police boss, Mr Kayode Egbetokun to launch a full scale investigation into the case and bring the lawmakers to book.
Recall that the THE INFORMANT247 has reported the inside story of how the lawmakers break into the victim apartment in the middle of the night to beat him -and his friends -and further directed his police orderly to take him to F’ Division where he was detained till the next day. After his release, he was hospitalized for three consecutive days.
THE INFORMANT247 correspondent reliably gathered that the Police boss has directed a deputy commissioner of police to lead the investigation team. The two lawmakers, with their lawyers, were said to have been invited to the police headquarters yesterday to write statement after which they were released on self recognition pending outcome of investigation.
However, indications have emerged that the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Salihu Danladi might be attempting to sheild the lawmakers from investigation following his failure to set up an house committee to investigate the matter.
