The PDP Candidate for Kwara State House of Assembly Omupo Constituency, Abdulrasak Abiodun Lawal Oko-Ode has promised to advocate for pension reform in the state, when elected.
Abdulrasak Lawal Oko-Ode in an interaction with some pensioners and civil servants within his constituency yesterday,decried the situation where retired civil servants face difficulty before accessing their gratuity and pensions.
The PDP Candidate for Omupo Constituency comprising Igbaja, Idofian, Omupo, Agunjin and Ora wards hinted that he will introduce bill for domestication of 2014 Pension Act in the state after due consultations with executive arm of government, Labour Unions, Pensioners and other stakeholders to improve the lots of senior citizens in the state.
He explained that the Pension Act stipulates that employer and employee will contribute 10 and eight percent of their basic salary for remittance to Pension Fund Administrator of their choice monthly.
Speaking further, Mr Lawal Oko-Ode said that he will propose reform for technology driven Road Traffic Management to reduce traffic on roads, especially in Ilorin, Offa and other cities in the state.
According to him, it’s time traffic lights are installed at strategic locations and build pedestrian bridges in areas like Offa garage, Ganmo, Taiwo road, Challenge and others to enhance public safety.
