It was indeed a night of reminiscence and nostalgia when members of the Class of 2002 of the Federal Government College, Ilorin converged in Ilorin on Monday, August 12th, for their reunion dinner. The reunion brought together several members of that class who had not seen one another since leaving school 17 years ago.
Having gone their different ways for over a decade and a half, they converged at Ariya Garden of Kwara Hotel to reunite with themselves and design ways to give back to the school that made them.
The Publicity Secretary of the ’02 set, Ms Sarah Achonwa, said it was worthwhile old students come together to celebrate themselves years after departing. “It is a good feeling coming together after 17 years of separation to reunite and reminiscence on the lovely years we spent together. Those were beautiful years that can never be replaced.” Sarah said.
“The 2002 set of The Federal Government College is also planning to embark on significant projects in the school as a way of giving back to the school that made us”, said She.
Asked her comment on the current state of the school, she said that it is developing when compared to what they left behind but hasn’t reach what they hope for.
“Yes, the school is developing. Some of the small structures we left then have been developed to full buildings, It’s developing. However, it has not yet meet that standard we hoped for. It hasn’t reach that standard which we will be proud to send our children to for education.”
Present during the dinner is an Abuja based Ilorin born lawyer and member of the ruling All Progressive Congress in the state, Barr. Senior Sulyman.
