The first tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari is fast rounding up as countrymen are expected to troop out enmass to the polls today, Saturday, February 23, to elect a new president that will run the affairs of the country for the next four years.
Accordinv to INEC, there are 72 presidential candidates contesting the 2019 presidential elections, with two candidates being the major contestants.
President Buhari of the All Progressive Congress is expected to battle a former vice-president Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party and other aspirants to retain the villa seat.
Who will Nigerians give the mandate to become the next president among these candidates?
So far, 72,775,502 voters who have collected their PVCs are expected to vote at 119,973 polling units across six geo-political zones of the country.
In Kwara State, The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Kwara, Malam Attahiru-Madami has disclosed that the commission recorded 82 per cent success in the collection of the Permanent.
He said that 1, 407, 400 people registered for the PVCs in the state.
According to the REC, as at the close of PVC collection on Mon, Feb 11, 1, 149, 969 PVCs had been collected by their owners.
He gave the number of uncollected PVCs as 257, 431, adding that they had been taken to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) safe keep.
In Kwara, it will be Saraki’s battle for political survival in the midst of the rentles cries of O to ge, meaning Enough is Enough in Yoruba. It is one of the hardest election for him, however of he is able to deliver, he will definitely be a politician to contend with.
