The National Association of Nigerian Students, Joint Campus Committee, Kwara State Chapter pays a visit to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission secretariat in Ilorin yesterday.
In a statement released by the association and made available to newsmen today, They disclosed that the visit was aimed at establishing relationship with the commission in bid to jointly protect and promote the development of education system by combating indiscipline, misrepresentation, cyber crimes and corruption.
According to the association, The meeting which had in attendance top officials of the commission led by the Kwara State Zonal Head made clarifications on the mode of operation and the readiness of his team to work with the association.
“It was affirmed by the zonal head of the comission in combating issues in relation to Misappropriation of Funds by school managements,government officials, internet fraud ( populary referred to as Yahoo Yahoo), he likewise reiterated the fact the commission has received petitions against institutions like ( Kwara State Polytechnic ilorin , University of Ilorin) to mention but few, in which investigations are on to dig dip for adequate information.”
“He further assured the association that the commission would not hesitate to prosecute any management, students or individuals found wanting in any criminal activity, “As nobody is above the law”.”
“He lastly advised all Nigerian students in Kwara State to be of good representation and desist from illegal activities, which is now been celebrated among the youth of today, “As no one big or small, rich or poor is above the law. In a bid to show his commitment to our cause, he presented the commission’s establishment act 2004 and Records of Convictions to the association and pledged support during our campus programs on corruption,indiscipline,internet frauds (yahoo yahoo) and the adverse effects on our society.”
They however warned all students, managements of institutions and government officials to desist from criminal activities, which they described as “being celebrated”.
