Leading Pro-democracy group in Kwara state, Kwara Must Change has announced it’s plan to celebrate and honour women warriors who led the popular Otoge political revolution in Kwara State.
The honour, according Kwara Must Change shall be bestowed on women at the Kwara women summit being hosted by the group on 27th May, 2019 ahead of the inauguration of the incoming administration.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by Kwara Must Change (Women Wing) led by the women leader, Dr Mopelola AbdulMalik, the group said Kwara women summit is scheduled to hold on 27th May, 2019,starting at exactly 10am, at Yejoooh Grand Corel Hotel, Opposite Agaka Filling Station, Asadam Road in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital.
Dr Mopelola, who is the Chairperson of the event organisers stated that, Women wing is an offspring of Kwara Must Change, which was created as a platform to make women voices louder.
She further stated that ” the group is organizing women sumit and award ceremony with a theme *women, wither are thee voices* to address key issues encumbering women’s participation in governance”.
According to her, “the program is one day summit and award ceremony ceremony geared towards creating a working template and a virile platform for women to come together to dissect issues militating against their unity and proffer solutions with actionable plan.
The summit, which draws participants from both formal and informal sector shall also set an agenda for women to accomplish within the coming administration and ensure that issues concerning women are given top priority.
Expected participant at the event include wife of Kwara incoming Governor, Mrs Olufolake AbdulRazaq, former senator representing Kwara Central, Senator Rukayat Gbemisola Saraki, former senator representing Fct, Senator Khairat Gwadabe, Wife of late Kwara Governor, Hajia Aishat Lawal and a retired Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice Raliat Elelu.
Other expected participants include, Hajia Mairo Mustapha, Mrs Dorcas Gana, Mrs Kpayero Taiye Baabu, Alhaja Modibbo and others.
