Justice Halima Yusuf of the Kwara State High Court today reserved judgment till Thursday in a suit filed by Action Democratic Party (ADP) and three others against the Chairman of the Kwara State ‘Independent’ Electoral Commission (KWASIEC), its Chairman and Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.
The claimants through their counsel, Muritala Sambo are requesting the judge to make an order compelling the governor to remove Mr. Uthman Ajidagba as the chairman of the election umpire body.
After listening to submissions from counsels from all sides the judge fixed judgement for Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Kwara State, Comrade Adesina Ajisafe in a statement released today said the trial judge should be allowed to deliver “the judgement based on material facts placed before her and the dictate of her conscience”.
The statement added that some members of the ruling political party in the state are fond of reaching out to judge.
” An incorruptible judge in an open court about four weeks ago warned a member and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) standing trial on issues bordering on corruption that made him lose a federal appointment to desist from reaching out to him.
The judge said in an open court, “Counsel warn your client to stop reaching out to me, otherwise I will commit him to prison for contempt”.
It therefore submitted that, ” We are expectant and hopeful that justice will be served in this instant case and the people of the state will have reasons to rely on the judiciary in the state to rise to the occasion and save the day in this case”.
