10 months after, Beneficiaries of the empowerment programme initiated by Kwara State Governor’s Wife, Deaconess Omolewa Ahmed to Mark 2018 International Women Day has cried out over the inability of the first lady to make reality her promise to them, describing it as “fake” and “empty”.
A beneficiary who don’t want his name on print alleged the first lady promised to give
20 women full scholarship at IVTEC and SME loan between N50,000-N200,000 to 100 people during 2018 International Women Day held at Banquet Hall, Ilorin in March last year.
“We went to screening for SME in LEAH Foundation Office at Taiwo Road, Ilorin but they are yet to get back to us. It’s sad that the first lady is behaving like politician.”
”I feel the event was just jamboree to impress the world through wide publicity given to the event.”
Speaking further, another beneficiaries maintained, ”sincerely, I don’t want to talk about this issue again. Kwara state First Lady made it look as if she was really concerned about the plight of unemployed young women. But it is another political stunt. I went for the Screening at LEAH Foundation office off Taiwo Road, Ilorin a week after the programme.”
”I sense foul play with the disposition of staff during the screening. I am in contact with about 10 beneficiaries. They are still waiting for feedback. Somebody every traveled to Ilorin from Lagos, just for the screening.”
However, as at the time of laying this report to bed, all calls put through to the S.A. media to the first lady were neither answered nor returned.
