The Kwara State college of Education workers under the aegis of COEASSU is set to commence strike. THE INFORMANT247 can authoratively report.
The industrial action is expected to commence on Monday, October 6, 2017 over the refusal of the state government to pay workers’ salaries for months.
The strike is coming after several furtile meetings between the government and stakeholders of the Union.
One of the top officials of the union who pleaded anonymity because he is not in the position to speak on the issue, revealed that they have met severally with the state government to discuss issues bordering the welfarism of the institutions staffs.
“Before the last meeting held with the government last Thursday, we have met with them severally, but they fail to show even a little concern about the plight of our worker. As you can see, the last time we were paid was May, and that was when we were given 13 percent.” He disclosed.
He further emphasis, “As at the issue on ground, and as at this moment i can confirm to you that we are still on the strike, but cannot say what will happen between now and Monday. If at all the government can review our request before then, the strike maybe cancel but if not, by this time Monday, we would have been on strike” he concluded.
However, all efforts to contact the Senior Special Assistance to the governor on media and Publicity, Dr. Femi Akorede proved abortive as his numbers were not reachable.
