Barely few weeks to the general election, the Peoples Democratic Party has flag-off a massive door-to-door campaign, as part of their strategies ahead of the election, in major areas across the Ilorin metropolis to push home the Senate President’s comment of defeating the APC inspite of federal might in the forthcoming polls.
The decision to start campaign (this early and taking it to grassroot) may not be unconnected with the fallout of the party in the recent by-election held in Ekiti/Oke-Ero/Isin/Irepodun. This being the first time the Saraki dynasty will be losing out in a poll.
Some of the party Stalwarts were sighted in key areas across the ilorin metropolis convincing the masses on the need to vote for the PDP in the forthcoming election.
However, when contacted by THE INFORMANT247 correspondent, some of those already reached by these stalwarts bitterly laid out their grievances, mostly not comfortable with the handling of affairs of the state.
“It’s not about Saraki or anybody, but how the affairs of the state is being handled. Imagine the suffering of the local government workers, infastructure is zero, so what else. Kwarans say “Oto ge”!” Ismail, a pretty trader, lashed out.
Also speaking with our correspondent, a lady who only identified herself as Aishat noted that the decision is left for the elcetorates to decide.
“Let the APC also come and give us reasons why we should vote for them, we are going to juxtapose their plans and see which one favour us.” She concluded with a broad smile on her face.
Recall that the President of the Senate, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has on Sunday urged his supporters in Kwara State not to be afraid of federal might which he said supporters of the All Progressives Congress were relying on to win the forthcoming general elections.
He butressed that the Peoples Democratic Party would win the elections if right strategies were adopted.
Saraki spoke at the inauguration of a 42 – member PDP Campaign Committee chaired by Prof. Abubakar Sulyman in the state.
