The Kwara North Leaders of Thought Forum has announced their unalloyed support for the People’s Democratic party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Razak Atunwa in the forthcoming general elections in the state.
The group which made their position known through a press statement released at a press conference by the Conveners Alhaji Ibrahim Koto and Alh. Abubakar Ndakangi cited the assurances of the district producing the governor in 2023 as one of the big reasons for taking that stance.
A part of the statement reads, ” We are a forum of opinion leaders that symbolizes the thoughts and collective position of both the old and young irrespective of political interest.
We are here to express our readiness to work for the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate, Hon. Razak Atunwa during next Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
As Opinion Leaders, we are convinced that it is only Atunwa governorship that can guarantee the return of the governorship seat to their zone in 2023.
We call on Elders, Traditional Institution, Youths and Women and most expecially the Political Actors to put Kwara North First, in any Political decisions they may be considering”.
The support was said to be largely connected to the pact between the party and the Kwara North Leaders early last month.
“We wish to remind our kinsmen that while the leadership of the PDP in the state had entered into an agreement with the Kwara North’s Leaders to the effect that power will rotate to our district in 2023, the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) has kept mute on this issue.
It is a known fact that the APC’s candidate for the election, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq will stop at nothing to spend the maximum eight years in office, if elected as the state governor. It is on this premise that we call on all Kwara Northerners to support and Vote for Atunwa who had graciously agreed to spend a single term of four years”. The statement reads.
Meanwhile, the Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections is stated to hold in the state on the 9th of March 2019.
