A truck carrying fuel of about 17 thousands liters has on Saturday 17th of August 2019, caused accident in Stadium road, Suleja, Niger State.
The driver of the truck was reported to have been loaded with 17,000 litres of fuel from undisclosed destination, to be offloaded at a stipulated time before the occurrence of the mishap.
It was said not to be a result of high speed but break failure.
“Truth may seems bitter but must be said. The driver was as calm as expected because he wasn’t on the speed. But I heard him shouting on top of his voice “ba hiska bahiska” literally meaning break before the accident” says Ibrahim.
Another eye witness said who pleaded anonymity said, “I saw the driver when he was professionally commanding the truck. It is just like magic because I thought the truck will fall down and explode but nothing of such.” She recounted.
According to our correspondent, the accident did not claim any life but damaged four cars, two behind and two parked by the road side also one motorcycle which was following the truck closely.
As at the time of report, the location of the driver was unascertained as he reportedly wasn’t found after the incidence.
However, the Nigeria Union Of Petroleum And Natural Gas Worker (NUPENG) brought an empty truck to offload the fuel from the truck and also spoke to the victims of the damaged cars to be calm as they would get across to them.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO) and the Federal fire Services (FFS) were present at the place in order to safeguard the life of people around while the NUPENG offloads the truck.
