About 3,500 Men of the Nigeria Police (NPF) Kwara State Police Command, under the watch of Ag. Cp Kayode Egbetokun has been mobilized to ensure safety and security of the people of Kwara State during the festive period.
According to the press statement by the Command Public Relations Officer, Dsp. Okasanmi, the police have put necessary measures in place to maintain peace and orderliness before, during and after the Ileya celebrations.
Part of the statement reads thus; ” While appreciating the importance of the celebrations, the reason for the season should not be lost on all, and the need to celebrate in peace, devoid of rancor and any act/acts that may jeopardise the peace the State is known for.
” The Command has emplaced adequate security measures throughout the state, deploying 3500 Police men and women drawn from various operational sections of the Force and all other available security resources at our disposal, in a bid to ensuring that the dual celebrations of Ileya and Dubar in the state are enjoyed by all and sundry”. It reads.
The police also advise the people to jettison politics and politically- driven machinations and sentiments during Ileya/ Durbar as the festive period is not an avenue to display loyalty or advance political party supremacy.
They also implored the automobile operators to be mindful of pedestrians and other road users.
” The Command wants to emphasize that the forthcoming festival is not political and as such, political slogans and foul languages will not be accepted from any quarters, autho-mobile operators are advised to always respect the rights of other road users”.
Meanwhile, the general public has been advised to be conscious of their environments and monitor activities of their children and wards, while prompt report of suspicious movements and criminal acts should be reported to the authority.
