A Ilorin-based Civil Society Organisation known as Elite Network for Sustainable Development (ENETSUD) in her founding principle to foster public transparency and accountability launched a probe into an Entrepreneurship and Skill Acquisition Trainings facilitated in 2017 by a member of the House of Representative representing Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency of Kwara State, Honourable Abubakar Amuda-Kannike
There are series of allegations that the Thirty Four Million Naira Entrepreneurship and Skill Acquisition Programme executed by Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) was a scam.
It is against this backdrop that ENETSUD forwarded a letter of request to SMEDAN demanding the details of the project. In the SMEDAN response it was claimed that;
1. the entrepreneurship development training for one hundred and twenty (120) participants in Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency was contracted to Abilele Industries Limited at the sum of Sixteen Million, Six Hundred and Six Thousand Naira (N16,606,000) and was reported to be 100% completed;
2. the skill acquisition training for Forty (40) participants in Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency was
contracted to Dile Nigeria Limited at the sum of Seventeen Million, Four Hundred and Eighty Thousand Naira (N17,480,000) and was reported to be 100% completed;
3. the enterprise support service training for ninety-five (95) participants in Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency was contracted to Alhambra Global Service Limited at the sum of Five Million, Seven Hundred and Sixty-Eight Thousand, Four Hundred Naira only (N5,768,400) and was reported to be
100% executed.
ENETSUD in her unwavering effort to establish fact contacted the said beneficiaries through a list issued by SMEDAN, but unfortunately all the beneficiaries denied their participation in any of the trainings while some even claimed not to be indigenes of Kwara State. ENETSUD further established that the attendance lists of all the 120 participants were fraudulently written and signed by a single individual, as the handwritings are the same.
To further deepen her investigation, ENETSUD contacted the lawmaker who facilitated the multi-million naira Entrepreneurship and Skill Acquisition Trainings, Dile Nigeria Limited and Abilele Industries Limited that conducted the trainings to lend credence to the beneficiaries list issued by SMEDAN and they all affirmed the authenticity of the list.
It is on the basis that ENETSUD established that the Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition Trainings were fake.
