A call has been made to the new Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency, Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazak to as a matter of urgency, declare his assets publicly, sign FOI bills into law and announce his Chief of Staff within the first 30 days in office.
The above appeal was made by a writer and public analyst, Ibraheem Abdullateef and the State Coordinator for SCCD, Issa Mutolib Ayobami on a radio program on Sobi Fm sponsored by a pro-democracy group EnoughIsEnough (EiE.ng) earlier today.
Mr. Ibraheem Abdullateef, while responding to questions, enjoined Alhaji AbdulRahman to display his commitment to transparency and accountability by declaring his assets publicly so as to show a sterling example to his potential cabinet members.
While explaining further, Ibraheem noted that it’s such act of integrity that could sustain the good governance and democracy Kwarans clamoured for in the past. He enunciated that it’s also of utmost importance that he lends credible support to the passage of FOI bills, to demonstrate uncommon commitment to openness and honesty by his administration
Mr. Ibraheem, who said it’s not lost on him and vast majority of Kwarans what humongous challenges await the Governor, espoused with gusto, that, the new government will succeed provided they put interest of the people first at all times.
Meanwhile, Issa Mutolib Ayobami who is the Coordinator Society for Continuum of Change and Development (SCCD) enjoined AA-led administration to take workers Welfarism with great importance. Issa advised the incoming administration to pursue programs and policies that are only masses- inclined.
The duo who were guest analysts on a radio program charged the government to face governance and be steadfast on the course rather than personalising and politicising government programs.
Meanwhile, a passionate call has been made to the Governor to see to the setting up of cabinet within the first 30 days in office so as to help the state government hit the ground running.
