Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has restated his commitment to complete all ongoing capital projects across the state before the expiration of his tenure.
The governor gave the assurance on Wednesday during an inspection of some ongoing projects in Ilorin metropolis.
He disclosed that funds had been made available to contractors handling various projects in the state through the State Infrastructure Development Fund (IF-K).
While inspecting the Geri-Alimi underpass, Governor Ahmed said the contractor in charge of the project had identified the broken water pipeline which affected water supply to some areas within the metropolis, and charged him to fast track the project in order to restore supply to the affected areas.
Governor Ahmed also urged the contractor to make arrangement for periodic wetting of the road to suppress dust within the area.
The governor also promised continuous monitoring of projects across the state with a view to getting value for money and ensure their timely completion.
The Consultant in charge of the project, Engineer Bashir Lawal said the project would be completed in April, this year, adding that the project is at 70.5% completion level.
At the site of the ongoing the ultra-modern State Secretariat, the consultant in charge of the Project, Architect Kayode Makajuola disclosed that the project is going on as scheduled and would to be completed in April.
Makanjuola disclosed that the project is 50% completed and each of the four blocks will house 96 offices.
He commended the Governor for setting up the IF-K scheme which had guaranteed timely release of funds for the project.
A resident of the area, Mrs. Sadiat Alawaye thanked the governor for embarking on meaningful projects across the State and called for timely completion of the projects.
Also at the ongoing Egbejila – Asa Dam road, the Project Manager of the company handling the project, Engineer Sulaiman Musa disclosed that 75km road is at 45% completion level.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Egbejila Community, Alhaji Abdulraheem Adebayo applauded Governor Ahmed for addressing transportation challenges in the area and promised continuous support of the residents to the present administration in the state.
