General Hospital Ilorin has come out bare to refute the claims by the Abdulrahman Abdulrazak Campaign Organization ( AACO) that they are understaffed and Ill-equipped.
This was contained in press release by the hospital earlier today and signed by the management.
A part of the statement reads, ” We have become aware of a statement by the Abdulrahman Abdulrazak Campaign Organisation which makes false and disparaging claims about our hospital’s handling of patients on Thursday, February 21, 2019, and wish to make the following clarification;
“On the evening of Thursday, between 5-6pm, five patients were rushed to General Hospital, Ilorin and presented with various degrees of injury. Another two patients later came with minor injuries and were treated as outpatients.
In line with established medical practice, the patients were given emergency care and stabilised. The treatment included sutures, infusion and dressing. At no time were the patients denied care or left unattended to.
At around 7 pm, APC Governorship candidate, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, visited the patients and spent about 15 minutes in the hospital.
Shortly after, the five patients requested a referral to UITH on grounds that they did not want treatment in an ‘Otun ya’ hospital.
Our hospital is adequately staffed with qualified personnel and equipment, including an x-ray unit, as well as general and orthopaedic surgeons”.
While explaining further, the
Hospital management affirmed that they have the necessary capacity and capability in the discharge of their duties.
” The General Hospital, Ilorin has the capacity to provide care to its patients and will only refer patients for further care or at their request”.
Meanwhile, they urged the politicians to refrain from politicizing patient care as life is sacred and should be treated as such.
