Kwara state Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has concurred with the freedom of information bill, adding that the bill will promote transparency and accountability. However suggested amendment of some sections of the bill.
Recall that The Informant247 had earlier published that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq had on Monday returned FOI Bill to Kwara State House of Assembly for amendment.
During the amendment session by the Assembly, the Speaker, Rt Hon Salihu Yakubu Danladi read a letter transmitted to the 9th Assembly for reconsideration.
Gov. Abdulrahman, in the letter, said there is need to for amendment of some clauses in the bill to make the law practicable.
Some of the sections suggested for amendment includes section 4, 5, 6, 7 and 10.
The Governor who is convinced that the bill be signed also suggested in his letter that instead of N100,000 fine, culprit should pay the fine of N500,000 or should be sentence to 2 years imprisonment.
