The Shehu Alimi Foundation for Peace and Development has urged the general public to guard against unhealthy utterances that can jeopardise the prevailing peaceful coexistence in the country.
The National Secretary of the Foundation, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, while reacting to a social media news credited to the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Council, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, faulted the author of the report.
He described the report titled: “2019: I Will Step-down From The Throne If Buhari Win Kwara – Emir Of Ilorin” as falsehood and a deliberate attempt to malign the character of the highly revered monarch in the face of the current political arrangements in the country.
The statement further maintained that the Emir of Ilorin is highly reserved, respected and acknowledged as a peace loving traditional ruler in Nigeria by all and sundry and has no direct or partisan link to any political party, groups or associations.
“The throne of the Emir of Ilorin does not have anything to do with politics. It is a sacred stool of traditional leadership which predates the current political arrangements with unique style of administration and authority. There is need for the author to desist from such malicious and unwarranted publication. Failure to heed to this advise is tantamount to daring the unforeseen consequential repercussions”, the statement added.
He therefore appealed to the general public to disregard the report and continue to pray fervently for peace and tranquillity to reign in the country.
