2019: Ekiti Traditional Rulers deny disowning Assembly Candidate
…describe him as a popular candidate
The traditional rulers of Ekiti local government has debunk rumour of them disowning Alh. Tajudeen Lawal, a candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party to represent Ekiti local government at the state house of Assembly in the forthcoming general election.
This was made known when The Informant247 correspondent contacted the Secretary of the Ekiti local government traditional rulers, HRH Oba Olusegun Adebayo, the Owolobo of Obbo-Ile claiming there was no time the Obas made such statement, affirming that Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal is from Araromi Opin, Ekiti Local govermnent and a widely accepted candidate.
Oba Adebayo said, “They are liers, what the Nigeria Constitution says is once you stay in a certain place for 10 years, then you are eligible to contest there. And aside from that Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal was born and breed in Kwara, even in Opin. Whoever is saying that, please disregard such information. I am a royal father, I am from Ekiti local government and majority of us traditional rulers in Ekiti supports the candidature of Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal”
He further emphasised, “He has been doing empowerment there they received it, then they didn’t say he is not from Kwara. Some people are using there influence to disrupt the peaceful existence of Ekiti local government and we will not allow such”
He said, “From the conventional rotational system, the next is Opin and they have been protesting for it, because they are the only one that had not occupy the sit before and now, they have zoned it to Opin ward. And now the second point that favoured him is that the Muslim communities have been complaining that they have not occupy the position for a longtime and that they don’t use to consider them for any elective position. So we have to give him the mandate. He has been visiting the Muslim, Christain and even most of the Opin Obas and they prayed for him. Most of these Obas have endorsed his candidature. Alhaji Lawal is a popular candidate”
Oba Adebayo authoratively said, “Alhahi Lawal is a popular candidate and if they try to change him, they may loose most of us”
However, further investigation has revealed that a certain aspirant who lost his bid to clinge the party’s ticket in the just concluded party primary was responsible for the false information.
Alhaji Lawal Tajudeen is said to be a prince from Araromi Opin, the grandson of the late Olopin of Opin Kingdom Oba Lawal Anisuloogun who is also eligible to the stool of Olu of Araromi Opin and also the stool of Olopin of Opin kingdom.
It was reliably gathered that the aspirant has been romancing the opposition All Progressive Congress to hinder the party’s success in the forthcoming poll.
