A foremost People Democratic Party chieftain and pioneer chairman of the party in Kwara State, Lawyer Kunle Sulyman has cleared air on a statement credited to him welcoming the Senate President, Bukola Saraki to their party.
He said Saraki dynasty has come to Kwara to enslave the people and reap them of their political dividend, which prompted people like him to disagree with thier ideology.
Sulyman, who spoke to newsmen in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital yesterday, said their was no way he could have welcomed Saraki into their folds because they have different political ideology and principles. He said he was only misquoted as all he said was that he has the single right to defect to any party, where he felt his interest can be protected, without hindrances.
He further said that Saraki can defect to any party, but when the defection is becoming more than expected, he becomes a political prostitute.
He make emphasis to the youth unemployment, among other salient issues that should have been on the topmost priorities of the handlers of the state.
“Defection per-say, there is nothing wrong with it, because in politics, there is no permanent friend or does, only permanent interest. If one felt ones interest cannot be protected, then you move to another party to see if your interest can be better protected. There is nothing wrong with defection, he has every right to defect and nobody can stop him from joining any party of his choice, but when the defection is becoming to many, you either become a professional defector or political prostitute.”
He continued, “The same way he has the right to defect so does others. But if he is coming, what one check is, if my objectives or principles tally with that of Bukola (Senate President). But had it been I have the same political ideology or principles with him, we would have been together long before now.”
“Saraki dynasty has come to Kwara to enslave us, what I have been clamouring for is libration and freedom. Freedom from what, the Saraki dynasty. How can someone continue to dominate the political space for over 45 years with no meaningful project. If they are committed with people’s welfarism, I wouldn’t have any problem with their rule, but the fact that they are mis-governing the state is what people like me can’t take.”
