The lead prosecuting counsel today has fill an appeal seeking for the withdrawal of the charges against a member of the Kwara State APC, Mr. Biodun Baba at the Ilorin Magistrate Court.
The counsel to the complaint, Barr. Sholageru, who appeared before the court with two other lawyers, read a letter, written by his client Alhaji Jimoh Adeshina, an All Progressive Congress chieftain in Kwara State, seeking for the withdrawal of the court case. The letter which reads that after several interventions by traditional rulers, and well meaning Nigerians, they wishes to settle the case out of court.
But the lead counsel to the defendant, Barr. Sambo Muritala, noted that his team wouldn’t like to object to the plea of the complaint, however he demanded that a well detailed and hefty affidavit should be tendered and sworn before the court.
The presiding Judge however adjourned the case till the 3rd of August, 2017 for rulings on the withdrawal suit.
Recall that Biodun Baba is a member of the All Progressive Congress, Kwara State Chapter, who wrote on his Facebook wall to express his displeasure over the way affairs of the state are being run by the president of the senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki. This however got a swift response from a Chieftain of the party who drag him before the Ilorin Magistrate Court on behalf of the Senate President on allegations of libel, defamation among others.
