Says unapproved political rallies will not be allowed.
The newly posted Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, Bashir D.Makama, has resumed duty.
According to the Kwara state police Public Relations Officer, DSP Okasanmi Ajayi, Makama took over the baton of leadership of the command from the out gone commissioner of police, Fafowora Bolaji Olaniyi.
The statement reads, “The Commissioner of police wishes to assure the good people of Kwara of adequate security and safety of their lives and property, he has however warned seriously against any act of lawlessness from any person or group of individuals no matter how highly placed, to this end, the Command is fully invigorated to continue to sustain the fight against armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, communal violence and all other forms of criminality in the state. Political thuggery, possession of unauthorised fire arms of any category remain banned and unlawful.”
“Nevertheless, members of the public still in possession of any forms of arms should submit them as this briefing serves as the last opportunity to do so, anybody found with such will be severely dealt with. Hate speeche, fake news, destruction of Bill boards posters and banners of political opponent will certainly not be tolerated. At this point, as, political campaigns hots up, parties are enjoined to seek for security permit for effective security coverage, as unapproved political rallies gatherings and possessions will not be allowed.”
“The command as a point of duty, will provide a level playing ground for all political parties to operate, meanwhile, politicians are advised to at all times play the game according to the rules and provision of extant laws guiding electoral processes. Vote buying and selling, pvc buying and selling amd all other acts that may call to question the credibility of the electoral processes should be avoided. Consequently, all area commanders and divisional police officers in the Command have been directed to be at alert at all times and ensure no breakdown of law and order in any part of the state. Members of the public are admonished to have confidence in the ability of the command to police them satisfactorily.”
“Since security is every body’s business, the Command is soliciting the cooperation and support of every well meaning Kwarans for a peaceful and a secured communities. Law abiding Kwarans are advised to go about their daily lawful endeavours without any fear of attack or molestation from any quarters.
Potential law breakers are hereby warned to have a change of heart, as anybody found undermining the resolve of the Command to provide safety and security to the citizens will be dealt with in accordance to the laws of the land.”
“Fundamental rights of every law abiding citizens or group as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution will be observed to the letter with total adherence to the rule of law.
Any suspicious movements or character within and around the communities should be reported to the police, or nearest security agents please.”
