Some All Progressive Congress leaders under the aegis of Concern APC leaders has expressed concern over the comment of an aspirant of the All Progressive Congress in the just concluded party primary, Professor Oba AbdulRaheem.
This was made known in a press conference held today, October 30th 2018 at the state capital, Ilorin.
Oba Abu who, during the weekend, spoke with journalists, on his arrival at the airport, protested the emergence of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq as the winner of the party’s primary claiming “his mandate must be returned to him”.
However, while reacting to this, the APC leaders said President Buhari during the endorsement of Mallam Abdulrasak, as party flabearer in the forthcoming election, has done enough to calm aggrieved aspiarants and let them see reasons why they work together for the success of the party.
“Sadly, an ugly event occurred on Sunday, 28th October, 2018 when an aspirant who was present at the presidential endoresement of Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem arrived at Ilorin airport. His engagement with the press was not in the spirit of the Abuja accord with the Hon. Minister of Information and culture. Neither did it represent the resolutions of aspirants with National Chairman Comrade Adams Oshiomole. It further embarrassed the decent meeting of the Kwara APC and the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”
They further alleged Prof. Oba’s supporters of destroying APC/Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq billboard within Ilorin Metropolis.
“It is on record that supporters of Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem destroyed the the billboards of Mallam Abdulraman Abdulrasaq. We view these acrions as disrespect both the party and the president”
Calling on the party to take immediate action, they said, “we call on the state Party Chairman of APC to take disciplinary action against such outward behaviour which could be interpreted as supportive of opposition”
Responding to a questions from journalist, the chairman of the forum, Amb. Yahaya Seriki said the party is now in unison and every aspirant have representatives with them aside “grandpa”, obviously referring to Prof. Oba.
Recall that mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq had won the All Progressive Congress direct primary held on 6th October, 2018 across the 16 local government of the state.
